Armenian alphabet is a graphically unique, alphabetical writing system, and still in use.

It was introduced around 450 AD, by Mesrob Mashdots, with the assistance os Sahag Bartev.

Mesrob Mashdots was an Armenian linguist and ecclesiastical leader.

Originally it comprised 36 letters, 2 oetters O and F were added in the Middle Ages, It has 31 consonants and 7 vowels.

The Armenian word for the alphabet is “aypupen”,named after the first 2 letters of the Armenian alphabet.
